Overview

The first earthquake was centered near the intersection of Archibald Avenue and Brookside Street, while the second tremor’s epicenter was located approximately three-fifths of a mile northeast, near the 60 Freeway and South Oak Hill Drive. The quakes were felt widely across Southern California, including Los Angeles, Orange County, and northern San Diego County. Reports from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) indicated “light” shaking near the epicenters, sufficient to disturb windows and dishes, and “weak” shaking experienced farther away.

Casualties

Fortunately, local authorities, including the Ontario Police Department, reported no immediate damage or injuries. Residents in Rowland Heights experienced a brief but intense shaking, with one local initially mistaking it for a vehicle crash.

While Saturday’s quakes caused some alarm and disruption, no significant damage was reported. Seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones emphasized that such seismic swarms are common in Southern California, and residents are advised to stay prepared for ongoing seismic activity in the region.
