ISLAMABAD: The federal government has officially announced a public holiday on September 17 (Tuesday), in honor of Eid Milad un Nabi, marking the 12th of Rabi ul Awal, 1446 Hijri. This special day commemorates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), a revered occasion observed by Muslims across the globe.
Moon Sighting and Commencement of Rabi ul Awal
The announcement came after the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, headed by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, convened a meeting to determine the sighting of the Rabi ul Awal moon. On Wednesday, the committee confirmed that the crescent was not sighted in any part of the country. As a result, the Islamic month of Rabi ul Awal will officially begin on Friday, September 6.
“We received no credible reports of moon sightings from any region of Pakistan. Despite clear skies in some areas and cloudy weather in others, the committee, in consensus, decided that Rabi ul Awal will commence on September 6,” stated Maulana Azad during a press conference in Islamabad.
