Ancestral Legacy of Sindh: President Asif Ali Zardari Visits Family Graveyard in Nawabshah
June, 2024, President Asif Ali Zardari visited his graveyard at Baloo Ja Quba, located 12 kilometers from the center of Nawabshah. This visit was a solemn tribute to his late parents and departed loved ones.
Accompanied by his sister, Faryal Talpur, the President offered Fateha and showered flowers on the graves of his mother, Begum Bilqis Sultana, and father, Hakim Ali Zardari, who passed away on May 24, 2011. He also paid respects to other family members buried in the Baloo Ja Quba Graveyard, praying for their eternal peace.
This act of remembrance reflects the ancestral legacy of Sindh, where honoring forefathers remains a deeply rooted tradition. In Sindhi culture, particularly during the first ten days of Muharram, families visit graveyards to clean, repair, and maintain the graves of their ancestors. If a grave is built (Pakkā), it is repainted, while unbuilt (Kachā) graves are renewed with fresh mud. If flowers are unavailable, tree leaves are spread over the graves as a mark of respect.
By visiting Baloo Ja Quba, President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed his connection to the ancestral legacy of Sindh, emphasizing the region’s enduring values of respect, remembrance, and spiritual devotion.
